HISTORY
A group of supporters of the Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival
started meeting to discuss the goodwill of the “Bavarian Village” and
the need for official ambassadors. In 1974, this small group of Bavarian
theme supporters formed “The Royal Bavarians” with Owen Watson as the
first Kanzler (German for president). Other members were Wilfred Davy,
Bill Garrecht, Lenard Smith, Dick Stroup and Lynn Watson.
The Royal Bavarians is a Washington State registered non-profit
organization. They are members of the Northwest Festival Hosting Group,
an association of community festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest
and British Columbia and are recognized as the official hosts and
greeters of the City of Leavenworth.
To this day The Royal Bavarians, recognized by their Bavarian attire, can be seen escorting the Autumn Leaf Festival Float or greeting the many guests throughout Leavenworth.

ACTIVITIES
Support the Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival
Escort the float in various parades throughout the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, Canada.
Provide a Hosting Packet for out-of-town festival Dignitaries during Autumn Leaf Festival.
Assist the Royal Lady of the Autumn Leaves whenever necessary.
Support the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce with their functions including Mai Fest and Christmas Lighting Festival.
Serve as greeters for local Choral and Christmas Concerts and City of Leavenworth functions.
Participate in the D.O.T. “Adopt-A-Highway” by cleaning a section of Highway 2 in Tumwater Canyon.
Make donations to the Community Cupboard and provide food to be distributed to needy families in the Leavenworth Area,
Collect stuffed “Bears” for the Chelan County Sheriff’s “Care Bear Program” as needed.
